Vocabulary

Target audience- The intended group for something that is being made. An example would be putting fun colors on something for teens, and putting more dull colors for adults to make it more mature.
Message- a communication that is trying to get across that can be made in a lot of different forms.
Work ethic- a belief about the importance of work and how it can make your character a lot better.
Employability skills- Somebody who has a lot of work ethic that is really positive who is very good at the job he/she does.
20/20 rule- When you are using the computer and typing and clicking for a long period of time, the 20/20 rule means that after 20 minutes, look away from the computer and do something else for 20 minutes.
Right-to-know laws-  It is the rule that the worker needs to know what chemicals and things that they will be exposed to during their work day.
Icon- Something that represents a picture or an item.
Vector-based graphics- Using points, curves, and lines to show graphics and design.
Specs/ specifications of a project- Stating specifically what is wanted to be done. Using specific directions and guidelines to go by.
Dialog box- A small area on a screen that is where the user can view things and give commands.
Palette- The range of colors or shapes that a user can use.
Guidelines- A general rule or advice that can help with tasks and assignments.
Extensions- Giving an extra amount of time to be able to finish and complete an assignment. Goes past the original time that the assignment is due or needs to be completed.
Contextual Menu- Pop-up menu that you can access from a right click or a middle click. The options are usually related to the thing that is right- clicked on.
Clipping mask- When you select certain parts of an artwork to keep and the other part will not be seen any more on the clipboard. You can use this option by selecting which layer to get rid of when you use the layers.
Hue- A color or a shade
Primary colors- The main primary colors are red, blue, and yellow. They are the main colors that all the other types of colors branch off of. 
Secondary colors- The main secondary colors are orange, green, and purple. These colors are the colors that branch off the primary colors. 
Tertiary colors- There are six tertiary colors; red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-violet, and red-violet.
Neutral colors- The colors of black, brown, gray and other dull colors. Usually used for calmer designs or making other colors pop out.
Continuous tone image- When an image has a continued use of different shades of gray.
Resolution- The degree of detail when looking at a computer monitor or the television.
File size- Size of a computer file. Usually measured in bytes. 
Ligatures- a character consisting of two or more joined letters.
Ampersand- typographic symbol used to designate the word and.
Small caps- small capitalization.
Lowercase- small letters as opposed to capital letters.
Uppercase- capital letters as opposed to small letters
Flush left- When every line is aligned to the left
Flush right- When every line is aligned to the right
Centered- Everything is in the center on an axis. Centering is very formal
Justified- Aligns left and right margins
Lining- all uniform height with no ascenders and descenders
Non-lining- have ascenders and descenders. old style
Leading- space in between lines of type
Margins- empty or white space in between the text 
Kerning- allows you to change the space in between two lines of type
Tracking- allows you to change the space between a large amount of type
Concept- an idea; something formed in ones mind
Final product- what the target audience will eventually see; end result
Thumbnail- quick sketches to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper
Initial Cap-  larger decorative capital letter at the beginning of text or paragraph
