Logotypes

Logotype: a graphic mark or emblem commonly used by commercial enterprise, organization, and even individuals to aid and promote instant public recognition.

5 Principles of Effective Logo Design:
1. Simple
  • Makes a logo design easily recognizable
2. Memorable
  • Keeping it simple yet appropriate
3. Timeless
  • Make sure it stands to the test of time
4. Versatile
  • Needs to work in all media or applications. Need to be printed or on the TV, internet, or billboard
5. Appropriate
  • Appropriate for the intended audience. Needs to look more colorful for something childish and more serious for something more serious. Design for audience, not yourself.

Four Color Process vs. Spot Color
Four Color Process- Technique for printing with full color. The four colors reproduce all colors. Also known as the CMYK (Cyan, magenta, yellow, black)
Spot Color- Method of specifying and printing colors in which each color is printed with its own ink.
Pantone Matching System- Using specific shades of colors with using numbers

CHOOSE YOUR COLOR WISELY!
Color plays an important role in color designs. It can illicit different feelings and emotions for the audience. Colors tend to follow trends. They have to still follow trends with the new popular colors. Banks may still want to stick to what they are usually using, so that it is more timeless. Keep your color to two or three so that it is not chaotic. Emotions may effect the color.
